writing

The thing I find most odd about writing is my writing journals.  I have lots of ideas so I jot them down, then when I go back to them, I think “did I write that”?

This is one of those. It is from my school car line journal.

 Things look good today

alternate between the before and after

 Is there something more

 waiting is the lesson

 patience with time

 follow the pathway

 stay in line

 Keep focused

to be different

 I don’t know why

when faced with a blank sheet of paper

 I choose to write sideways

 does this say anything

the way I like things to be diffeent

 the way that I see

 to watch color

 to watch paint

to try color schemes that mesh

to see people for who they really are

 all different

Kids and Orange

Here is how my kids see orange-

 dark

warm

 Jenny

it isn’t a boyish color

 it is a girl color

pretty

I am trying to teach my kids to think about color and art. Emma really enjoys it. I think she “gets it”.

A coping stategy

All through college I had trouble paying attention.  I was rediagnosed with attention deficit disorder in college (after droping out a few times).

I started to try to find ways to cope in class. I needed to find ways to listen.

I soon discovered if I scribbled a crazy group of circles (like stain glass windows) and colored them in a little at a time, I could pay attention to the teacher. I wasn’t looking at the teacher but because I was focused on coloring the design, I could listen better.

I still do this a lot if I have to hear a speaker. It keeps me focused.

Ellie likes to do it too. It helps her.
